Style categories such as traditional, transitional or mid-century modern are often a main source of inspiration that tie our projects together, and are the ones that get a lot of love.
But, how about Viking?
I know what you’re thinking — we’ve lost it, right? Well, kinda, but not really.
We’re inspired by pushing the boundaries of style and design and, when we see a piece like the Elka Chair from Bernhardt, it stirs the creative cocktail in our brain.
First, Bernhardt is an acclaimed furniture company that is a real influencer within the industry, manufacturing products for every room raging from chairs to headboards. The former being the focal point of our Viking Age reference.
The Elka Chair (or, ‘horn-and-hair-on-hide’ as we’ve coined it) is a statement piece that features a tusk-like frame that’ll excite your inner Viking — or cattle wrangler!
We love this piece not just for the statement it makes, but also because it is [surprisingly] adaptable. The contrasting arms allow it to work with light and dark, and the earthy tones play really well with other natural wood pieces. In fact, we even paired it with an iron-like medieval side table in our Britannia build to really flex some Scandinavian style (not Ikea — more like 10th Century).
We’re not afraid to think [way] outside-of-the-box, and you shouldn’t be either. Creativity is a beautiful expression of one’s soul. Let it out to run around once in a while.
