Ron Sowden, owner and CEO, started Dekora with co-founder Barbara Rae in 2003. A veteran of the British Columbia film industry with over fifteen years’ experience in set decorating, Ron has a keen understanding of how interior design affects an audience, and how it tells the stories of the people who live in the space. One of the founding instructors in set decorating for Capilano University’s Professional Film Studies program, Ron is an arts graduate of UBC, with a post-graduate diploma in marketing.

Susan Mackay is DEKORA’s BC Branch Manager. Originally from Toronto, Sue has a diverse background of experience in her specialty – managing and working with people – including with top retailers such as Pottery Barn and Apple. Susan first joined DEKORA in 2005 and has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in our business.
Our Style Team are a talented group of creative individuals whose varied backgrounds bring a wealth of skills and experience to DEKORA. Together they include interior designers, stylists, accomplished fine artists, painters and photographers, film set decorators, graphic designers, web designers and craftspeople: Matt Vanderwerff, Tracey Mills, Brent Melnychuk, Dina Holmes, Shirley Wiebe, Barry Weiss, and Amy Do.
Carey Myers and Vanessa Silva are our Sales and Marketing Consultants in Vancouver, and together they are a dynamic duo! Carey started with DEKORA in 2009, coming from an accomplished educational and career background in marketing and communications, with experience both in Vancouver and London, UK. Originally from Montreal, Vanessa joined DEKORA in 2015 following her move to Vancouver and career experience in sales, real estate marketing, interior design and furniture retail.
Keeping the wheels turning and systems humming each day are our Office and Administrative Team – Project Coordinator Elisa Hoole is our intrepid point-person managing communication and the constantly changing and moving parts of day-to-day workflow. Supporting us all are Accounting/HR team Lisa, Terry, and Jacquie.
Our business involves a LOT OF STUFF – millions of dollars’ worth of furniture and décor – and it is always moving… in and out of our warehouses, our customers’ homes, on and off our fleet of trucks. We are so fortunate to have a fantastic group of people dedicated to making it all happen – safely and on time – every day. Leading the team since 2006 is Warehouse Manager Michelle, with Duane, Sean, Jason, Aaron, Ayira and Deanna.
